Domestic violence is an abuse of power. It occurs when one person in an intimate relationship engages in behaviour that causes fear or harm to the other person.
If you sometimes fear for you or your children's safety but do not yet feel ready to leave, or whether you are planning to stay in the relationship, are thinking about leaving, or have left for good, no-one knows your situation as well as you do, so please think carefully about how to keep you and your children safe.
Pets: Dawn House has specially negotiated some assistance for families (who leave a DV situation) who have a pet that needs to be looked after. We cannot look after them at the shelter but can help provide up to a months pet care assistance elsewhere. Please don't hesitate to ask our staff about this.
